Where are they now? Yves Racine
FIND OUT WHAT YVES RACINE IS DOING THESE DAYS.
MONTRÉAL | April 24th, 2009
The Canadiens didn’t pile up 100 years of history without the blood, sweat and tears of the over 750 players to have ever worn the uniform. From the likes of Donald Audette to Zarley Zalapski, there are former Habs scattered all over the world. Although many hardcore Canadiens fans can rattle off the career accomplishments of hundreds of their old heroes, the question remains: what are these guys up to today? Today’s guest: Yves Racine.
Where do you live now?
I live in the Quebec City area.
What are you doing now?
I’ve been in real estate since 2005. We build condos in Quebec City. The real estate industry is doing really well here.
How many times per year do you lace up the skates?
I still play once or twice a week with friends. This year, since January, I’ve also been playing with Canadiens Alumni.
Have you kept in touch with any former teammates?
I’ve been in touch a bit with Marc Bureau and Karl Dykhuis. I also see guys at the Alumni golf tournament and we get together every September. That’s usually when I see most of them.
How many Canadiens games do you watch per year?
I’ll watch with my kids sometimes. I might not see the whole game, but I’ll generally catch at least the end of it.
When was the last time you were in Montreal to watch a game?
I went once or twice last year. We have an Alumni reunion every September and then we stay for the game afterwards.
Who is your favorite player on the current roster?
I’d have to say Maxim Lapierre. I really like the way he works. He gives it his all every time he steps on the ice.
Of all you’ve collected and still have from your years with the Canadiens, what’s your favorite?
I haven’t really kept anything. What I’ll always remember, though, is getting to play at the Forum. The Forum memories, the locker room, it’s something that will be ingrained in my memory for a long time.
