THE BOWMAN EFFECT
On June 9, 1971, Canadiens General Manager Sam Pollock hand picks Scotty Bowman as the team’s new Head Coach. Bowman would go on to raise the Stanley Cup in his second season with Montreal, on his way to winning five championships over his eight seasons behind the Habs’ bench. His crowning achievement would come when he would lead the 1976-77 Canadiens to their NHL-record 132-point campaign, losing only eight games that season.
