The former Minnesota North Stars (1967 to 1993), the Dallas Stars made their NHL debut in 1993-94. The Stars wasted little time in winning over their fans, capturing the Stanley Cup in 1999.

The Canadiens and Stars first squared off at the Forum on October 20 1993, with Montreal skating away with a 5-2 victory.

It was against those same Stars that the Canadiens played their final game at the Forum, on March 11, 1996, before moving to the Bell Centre.

Montreal and Dallas have never met in the playoffs.
