Going from worst to first, the Tigers posted a 19-10-1 record to lead the NHL and earned a bye for the first playoff round only to have the team suspended by the league when players threatened to strike, demanding guaranteed pay for playoff play

The Tigers and Canadiens met for the first time on December 22nd, 1920. It was also the first NHL game ever held in Hamilton, with hometown fans leaving in good spirits after their team’s 5-0 win.

Hamilton and Montreal never met in the playoffs.
