Hailing from Shelekhov, Russian, left-winger Andrei Bashkirov was the Canadiens fifth-round pick and the 132nd overall selection at the 1998 NHL Entry Draft. He made his debut with the Habs against the Colorado Avalanche on Nov. 21, 1998 at the Molson Centre. He played nine other games with the Montreal organization that same season, another two in 1999-00 and finally 10 more – his last in the NHL – in 2000-01. Bashkirov continued the remainder of his playing career in Europe.
