Daniel Geoffrion was the Canadiens’ first-round pick and eighth-round selection at the 1978 NHL Entry Draft. He signed a contract with the Quebec Nordiques as a free agent on Jul. 7, 1978, finally returning to the Habs organization after being picked up again as part of the expansion draft on Jun. 9, 1979. Son of Bernard “Boom Boom” Geoffrion, he made his NHL debut against the Atlanta Flames on Oct. 23, 1979, while his father was an assistant coach for the Canadiens. Geoffrion played 34 games with the team that season, recording six assists. He was reclaimed off waivers by the Nordiques on Oct. 8, 1980 and was immediately traded by them to Winnipeg. Geoffrion played his last two seasons in the NHL as a member of the Jets.
