Daniel Newman spent two seasons with the New York Rangers before being picked up by the Canadiens during the intra-league draft on Oct. 9, 1978. He played 16 games with the Habs during their 1978-79 campaign, recording two assists. Newman was traded to Edmonton on Jun. 13, 1979 along with Dave Lumley in exchange for the Oilers’ second-round pick in the 1980 draft (Ric Nattress). He played his last 10 games in the NHL with the Edmonton organization in 1979-80.
