Originally from Fort Frances, Ontario, defenseman Dave Allison signed with the Canadiens as a free agent on Oct. 4, 1979. In his only stint in the NHL, Allison played three games with the Habs during their 1983-84 campaign, recording 12 penalty minutes.

Following his retirement, Allison coached the Ottawa Senators for 25 games in the 1995-96 season, posting a record of 2-22-1.
