Dwight Schofield was Detroit’s fifth-round pick and the 76th overall selection at the 1976 NHL Entry Draft. He signed a contract with the Canadiens as a free agent on Sept. 22, 1982. Schofield played two games with the Habs during the 1982-83 season and was assessed seven minutes of penalties, with five of them coming from a bout with the Oilers’ Dave Semenko that took place on Feb. 4, 1983. The St. Louis Blues acquired his right as part of the intra-league draft on Oct. 3, 1983. Schofield also played for the Winnipeg Jets, Pittsburgh Penguins and the Washington Capitals during his time in the NHL and earned himself the nickname “Sconan the Barbarian”.
