Gilles Dubé signed a contract with the Canadiens on Sept. 27, 1949. In his only stint with the Habs, Dubé played 12 games with the team during their 1949-50 campaign, recording one goal and two assists. On Apr. 10, 1954, Dubé became a member of the Detroit Red Wings, winning the Stanley Cup with them that same season to give a storybook ending to his NHL career.
