Hailing from Big River, center and right-winger Hubert Macey made his NHL debut as a member of the New York Rangers. After two seasons with the organization, he was traded to the Canadiens on Jan. 12, 1944 along with Nestor Lubeck and Spence Tatchell in exchange for Kilby MacDonald. He played 19 games with the Habs – his last in the NHL – during their 1946-47 campaign, recording one assist. He was traded to the American Hockey League’s Springfield Indians on Dec. 21, 1948 in return for Gordie Bell and Sid McNabey.
