Hailing from Hauterive Quebec, Jean-Claude Bergeron was the Canadiens fifth-round pick and the 104th overall selection at the 1988 NHL Entry Draft. He made his debut with the team on Oct. 18 1990 in 5-2 loss to the Detroit Red Wings. He played a total of 18 games with the Canadiens during their 1990-91 campaign, posting a record of 7-6-2 and recording one assist. He was traded by the Habs to the Tampa Bay Lightning on Jun. 18, 1992 in exchange for Frédéric Chabot. Bergeron also enjoyed a brief stint with the L.A. Kings during his time in the NHL.
