Originally from Havre Saint-Pierre, Quebec, Jean-François Jomphe was never drafted in to the NHL. Prior to being traded to the Canadiens on Mar. 23, 1999 by the Phoenix Coyotes, Jomphe had also spent time as a member of the Anaheim Mighty Ducks. He played his final six games in the NHL with the Canadiens during their 1998-99 campaign, recording no points. Jomphe announced his retirement on Aug. 24, 2001.
