John Doran came to the Canadiens on loan from the American International Hockey League’s Providence Reds on Jan. 15, 1940. Prior to his arrival in Montreal, Doran had also spent time as a member of the New York Americans as well as the Detroit Red Wings, with whom he played seven games. He disputed his final six games in the NHL with the Canadiens during their 1939-40 campaign, recording three assists and six penalty minutes in that time.
