Hailing from Sainte-Marie-de-Beauce, Quebec, Jonathan Ferland was the Canadiens seventh-round pick and the 212th overall selection at the 2002 NHL Entry Draft. He made his NHL debut on Jan. 3, 2006 against the Pittsburgh Penguins, scoring on Marc-André Fleury during his first shift of the game. He also became the only player in NHL history to wear the number 86. During his only stint in the league, he played six other games with the Canadiens, but never made his way onto the scoresheet again. The following year, Ferland won the Calder Cup as a member of the American Hockey League’s Hamilon Bulldogs before going on to continue his career in Europe.
