Martin Desjardins was the Canadiens fourth-round pick and the 75th overall selection at the 1985 NHL Entry Draft. He made his NHL debut on Oct. 11, 1989 against the Boston Bruins at the Forum. He went on to play seven other games with the Habs, recording two assists, before being sent down the American Hockey League’s Sherbrooke Canadiens. The Canadiens traded Desjardins to the Chicago Blackhawks on Oct. 5, 1990 in exchange for future considerations. He would, however, never go on to play for the Blackhawks, continuing his career instead, in Europe.
