Defenseman and Tampere, Finland native Martti Järventie was Montreal’s 4th round draft choice, and the 109th overall pick in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft. The following autumn, on Oct. 9, 2001, he played his only game with the Habs at the age of 25, in Montreal, against the Anaheim Mighty Ducks. He posted a +2 differential in the Canadiens 3-1 victory. He was eventually assigned to the American League’s Quebec Citadelles where he finished out the season before continuing his career in Europe.
