Hailing from Tampere, Finland, defenseman Martti Järventie, was the Canadiens fourth round selection and 109th overall pick at the 2001 NHL Entry Draft. In the fall of that same year Järventie played his only game with the Canadiens – and in the NHL – on October 9 against the Anaheim Mighty Ducks at the Molson Centre. He disputed 12:59 of ice time, but did not make his way onto the scoresheet in the Canadiens 3-1 victory.
