Centerman, Oscar Asmundson’s rights were sold to the Canadiens by the New York Americans (NHL) on Oct. 28, 1937. Before joining the Habs, he had also been a member of the New York Rangers – with whom he won the Stanley Cup – the Detroit Red Wings and the St. Louis Eagles. He played his last two games in the NHL with the Canadiens in 1937-38, recording no points. The Habs went on to sell Asmundson’s rights to the American International Hockey League’s Cleveland Barons on Nov. 9, 1938.
