Hailing from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Paul Gauthier signed a contract with the Canadiens in October of 1937. He played his only game with the team on January 13, 1938, replacing Wilf Cude, and allowing two goals in a 2-2 tie with the Chicago Blackhawks at the Montreal Forum. He was traded a few seasons later to the Boston Bruins in exchange for Terry Reardon on November 5, 1941.
