A native of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, right-winger Perry Ganchar was the 6th round draft choice of the St. Louis Blues and the 113th overall pick in the 1982 NHL Entry Draft. He was traded to Montreal for Ron Flockhart on Aug. 26, 1985. He played one game with the Habs against Boston on Oct. 31, 1987, scoring on Réjean Lemelin on their way to a 3-3 tie. On Dec. 17, Ganchar was traded to the Pittsburgh Penguins, the last NHL team he would ever play with, for future considerations. He officially announced his retirement in October of 1995, after a few seasons of playing in the minors.
