Born in Toronto, Ontario, goaltender Randy Exelby was the Canadiens first-round pick and the 12th overall selection at the 1986 NHL Supplemental Draft. He played his only game with the Canadiens on January 27, 1989, in Buffalo, during which he turned away the only Sabres shot he face in his 2 minutes and 55 seconds of ice time. He was traded to Edmonton on October 2, 1989, for future considerations.
