Hailing from Toronto, Ontario, defenseman Rhys Thomson came to the Canadiens on loan from the American Hockey League’s New Haven club on Feb. 11, 1940. He played seven games with the Habs, finishing out their season and recording 16 penalty minutes in the process. The Canadiens sold Thomson’s rights to the New York Americans in October of 1940, although he wouldn’t get the chance to hit the ice with his new team. Thomson finished his career as a member of the Toronto Maple Leafs.
