Born in Montreal, Quebec, Steven Fletcher was the 10th round draft choice of the Calgary Flames and the 202nd overall pick in the 1980 NHL Entry Draft. He signed with the Montreal Canadiens as a free agent on Aug. 21, 1984. The left-winger played one game with the Habs on Apr. 22, 1988 as they took on the Boston Bruins in the third game of their playoff series. He received five penalty minutes for fighting Lyndon Byers during the Canadiens 3-1 victory at the Boston Garden.
