Hailing from Rouyn-Noranda, Quebec, Wayne Connelly made his NHL debut with the Canadiens during their 1960-61 campaign, recording no points. The Habs traded him to Boston in exchange for Dallas Smith, financial compensation and the temporary services of Bob Armstrong on Oct. 26, 1961. Connelly also enjoyed time playing with the Minnesota North Stars, Detroit Red Wings, St. Louis Blues and Vancouver Canucks during his time in the NHL before going on to continue his career with the World Hockey Association from 1972 to 1977.
